My Own (Mini) Krispy Kreme Challenge…
Some of you may have heard about the now even more famous (because ESPN is coming to cover it Sat., Feb. 7th) Krispy Kreme Challenge in Raleigh, NC. It’s a 4 mile run that starts at the NC State Bell Tower. Participants run 2 miles to Krispy Kreme on Peace Street… eat a dozen doughnuts (yes a DOZEN glazed doughnuts)… and then they must run the two miles back to the bell tower… all within one hour.
That’s the challenge… as well as the gastronomic part… I guess. Puking is a common site. This year more than 5,000 runners have registered and it benefits the NC Children’s Hospital!
We ended up with some Krispy Kremes in the newsroom today (not much different than other days).
I wish all the REALchallengers a great run. May you run like the wind, down the doughnuts like a deglutitor, and hold fast with the intestinal fortitude of a shark! I am no match… SO… here’s my Mini KKC:

LISA– Yeah, it’s all good. One little doughnut wasn’t so bad. I do know I don’t think I want to know what it would feel like to eat a dozen of them that fast.
*WARNING* Do not watch this while drinking hot coffee, or you will be cleaning your computer.
That was fantastic! I’m jealous of your natural speed and agility.
This is by far my favorite video.
IAN– I’m ready and willing to act like a goof if it produces some smiles. Glad I could give you a laugh! I sure hope you didn’t scald yourself or mess up your computer.
ROB– I think you should shoot for the Krispy Kreme Challenge next year!
JAN– oh come on honey… I the kids would love running around the house and slamming a few doughnuts… it could become a family tradition (once every 5 years).
RON– yes, I plan on working off more of that delicious glaze today.
very nice
luckily the nearest KK is several thousand miles away …. or the craving could kill my diet
WILL– Congrats on your good job with the diet. May not be a KK near there but you’re in the land of fine pastries and other goodies!
I am impressed you could run that fast while trying to get the doughnut down. I have been told that the best technique is to squash the donuts down flat before you shove them in your mouth. Not a lovely picture.
We caught this on the news Friday night. You are only off by 11 donuts. Keep practicing. Miss seeing you around.
SPROCKETBOY– It wasn’t so fast… I’m not a great runner especially in dress shoes. Yes, the sqush technique is popular. I decided to go about it the hard way.
BILL REH– Thanks… I need your help eating all those though… I’m sure you and Sharon ould put down a few. Miss you guys as well.
Those donuts were specifically for the newsroom employees! You owe us a box, Jones.
I was also wondering if this is a good time to switch to a Roth IRA or not…

That’s hilarious! Hope you’re feeling up to the “challenge” of covering the news later too.
Think you missed your calling. Tom Bergeron better look out!
