Spinning In The Sun…

back-wheel.JPG

It’s been beautiful weather here in Central North Carolina. Last week, I got back in the saddle a little more after that long break I talked about in my last post. I got out four times and logged 110 miles. The rides felt much better toward the end of the week and the last two were the longer routes. I took this picture with my cell phone while coasting around 18mph. Check out the appearance of the spokes. I’m sure there’s some effect that refers to why the spokes appear to be warped. Ron over at the Cozy Beehive will have to fill us in. I’ve been busy at work on some projects. So, my lack of more frequent posts may continue a little longer. Hope you all have a great week!

I’d either stop riding that wheel or stop taking pictures of it - one or the other. You can’t ride safely with them craaaaazy spokes lookin’ like that! You’re lucky. I’m sitting ill in Devon, England in miserable pouring rain. My bikes haven’t seen daylight in a couple of weeks. By the way I’ve just started a cycling blog at: http://www.sharpenson.co.uk/blog/

Although there hasn’t been much cyling going on! Cheerio…

Great to hear that you are back on your bike. Please keep enjoying yourself and don’t worry about us who don’t have a life and keep pressing the refresh button … :-) I like your arty picture.

I love the picture, that’s cool. Glad you are back on the bike!

Don,

I love how you call me out at the most unexpected times. Cool image there. First question would be - Do you have an iPhone? Its known to produce some crazy images. Frankly, Apple would do much better if they concentrated on just making a camera… like an iCamera.

On a serious note, this is possibly linked to the slow shutter speed of your camera. I’m not a camera expert, but what likely happened was that your device couldn’t freeze the fast movement of the rotating wheel and produce a sensible image. I could post a little something on this on my blog in a few days…

Hey Donald, I think that’s a cool pic too. It would look even more sweet w/ one of those Powertap carbon fiber hubs. That’s next on my bike toys wishlist. Maybe when the economy turns and we get a nice bonus at work…

TOM– Cheerio to you as well… our new cycling chap. I’ll check out your blog soon. I can’t remember if I made it to Devon when I spent some time in Oxford during college.
I’ll have to look back. I do remember the Ampleforth Pub in my particular neighborhood. People were great and I owe my dart talents to some great teachers there. Cheers!

GROOVER– Thanks… it did feel pretty good. I’m back from vacation now and look forwaard to more pedeling. Thanks again for the nice words.

JUDI– Thanks… just snapped it with the cell phone. I must say I took this while rolling along a back country two lane road with no traffic! Glad to be back on the bike.

RON– Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you by calling you out in this. I just thought you might have some fun insight. No iPhone… just a regular cell phone shot.

ROB2681– Thanks… TRUE… Powertap would look great on there. Sure thing… I also look forward to that work bonus.

That’s a really cool picture!!

JEFF– Thanks… total fluke. Hope all is well with you. I’ve been away from the blog for a while. I ‘ll visit yours soon.

Every photo finish I see from the races the spokes look like that. I don’t know why, but they do.

CHRIS– I’ll have to start checking those out a little closer. If you see one of the pictures like that again soon let me know. Good to hear from you… Hope all is well.

What a GREAT picture, glad you’re back in the saddle!

LAUREL– Thanks! It does feel good to be pedaling. The break was nice and as I said before I think it was definitely needed. But it’s such a good feeling to be “back in the saddle” again.
