Let The Pedaling Begin… (Updated)
Thule engineers would be impressed… a mountain bike balanced on one side and a TV on the other. Just thought I’d share this interesting picture.
So, 08-08-08 and I’m looking forward to cheering on our American Cyclicts in the Men’s Road Race tomorrow (Saturday)! You can watch it starting at 10am EST and it hits three times throughout the day… from 10-10:30am… 12:30-1:00pm and then the race wraps up with an hour from 2:30-3:30pm. I know Alejandro Valverde is expected to do well… even “The Cricket”, Paolo Bettini. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching all of them race… but understandably I have to cheer on George Hincapie, Levi Leipheimer, Christian Vande Velde, Jason McCartney and David Zabriskie. GO USA! And Best to all my fellow bloggers cheering on their countrymen and women!
Before I go… I found the same picture above but a different angle on msnbc.com. You can see this is a Kojima mountain 
bike (I’m pretty sure not high end).
I hadn’t heard of this brand before so I did some googling. I only found a couple of hits… including this one with a Kojima road bike.
So, I’m asking you all out there… what might you know about the Kojima brand? As for TV… no clue. But it looks like it will be obsolete when we go all digital in the US in Feb. ‘09.
UPDATE:
Smog may delay Olympic road race
The media scheduled to broadcast the Olympics were notified on Friday that the men’s road race could be postponed due to thick smog in Beijing. Broadcasters were advised to make alternate plans just in case.
The men’s road race is still scheduled for Saturday beginning at 11:00 am local time. Organizers have set a deadline to start the race by 1:30 pm or else delay it for 24 hours. The women’s road race is still scheduled for Sunday at 2:00 pm.

Although I will of course cheer for the Canadian team, in my heart of hearts I will be rooting for Team Luxembourg: with three finishers in the Top 12 of the Tour de France, this is one cycling powerhouse. The only drawback is that those three riders make up the entire team…

Sprocketboy — Cool… I’ll look up the team. I’m sure even though with the small number they’ll do well. The Olympics brings out something more in every athlete.
Delay the ROAD RACE I hear you say…. I hope not, my whole Saturday is planned, the couch is prepared. This morning training ride was put on hole (due to red wine…. it was a good night out!) I’m hoping an Aussie will bring home the gold
PRIMAL & CHRIS — Yeah… me too I’m ready to watch! Of course it would suck if the cyclists can’t breathe! I’m guessing Kojima is a bit of a mass production bike that is on the lower end.
I would also like to point out that Canada had a Top Ten finisher as well, unlike our neighbouring country. But I really loved Fabian C.’s pull up to the front group!

I thought Fabian was going to take it … but a little to heavy for that last uphill climb to the line
Sprocketboy & Will — Yes- it was a good race. Looked like Levi and Christian didn’t have enough today. I also thought George might do better. I was glad to see Fabian fight it out for 3rd. Schleck is just a monster… he’ll be a huge contender for many years to come!
It was a good race: Fabian’s bronze is amazing since there is no way that is a course for him. Just a tune-up for the time trial gold, perhaps!
SPROCKETBOY– True… But I hope the Americans can redeem themselves… maybe Levi will be a contender. Actually David Z. should do well but he may still be working on his comeback after that bad crash in the Giro.
It was so exciting to watch – especially with Michael Rogers getting quite close.
Also the last 10 km of the Women’s race were exciting TV, even though no Australian woman featured. A fine display of determination and strength in atrocious conditions. Nicole Cooke lost the wheel of her fellow break away riders in the last corner but fought back to take the gold medal in an uphill sprint. It was amazing to watch. Something to learn from her: Never give up!
GROOVER– So True… Cooke… was almost left around the corner. She surged… caught back up and hammered the finish. It was pretty impressive!
