Musical Bike Parts

I ride a Specialized Tarmac Expert and decided to check out the ‘08 models on the Specialized website.  Although I just bought the bike this year, I’m sure as fellow cyclists you can all relate to the fact that you’re always in the market for your next bike even when you’re not really in the market.  Anyway…  [...]

Man who kept athletes going… is gone.

Being a graduate of the University of Florida… I thought I’d share this story.  Some of you may have seen it already.  If not, you can read on.  Dr. Robert Cade, who invented Gatorade and sparked the multimillion dollar sports drink industry, died Tuesday of kidney failure.  And to think it all started with this question:  [...]

Ready to Ride

This picture shows what our weather around central North Carolina has been like over the last two days.  Great to see the rain but now that it’s clearing out, I’m ready to ride.  Problem is, my house is in shambles.  The entire downstairs is empty because we’re having our wood floors refinished.  All the cabinets are taped up… the [...]

Doping or not?

Innocent until proven guilty… but come on!  It’s so hard for me as a cyclist and an enthusiast of professional cycling to believe any of the reasons or excuses given these days for a positive drug test.  This is so frustrating.  Does anybody else find this frustrating?  Here’s the latest from cycling news on Bjorn [...]

Thankful for Cycling!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I’ve been thinking about how thankful I am for cycling and what it means to me.  So here’s what stands out:
I’m thankful to my wife for her support of my cycling goals.
I’m thankful my son likes to watch cycling races with me.
I’m thankful for my wife and son being my biggest fans… [...]

Stuffing my Piehole!

I mashed the potatoes… instead of the pedals! I started about this time last year.  By started, I mean stuffing my piehole not mashing the pedals.  You name it… I devoured the good eats.  From Thanksgiving goodies, to leftovers, [...]

70’s again!

Can you believe this?  Sunny and 70 degrees… 75 tomorrow.  It’s gotta be a dream.  All I need now is a big ol’ turkey leg in one hand for a
                                pre-Thanksgiving Day snack.

Chillin’ with Shadows

November is back… 51 degrees and a wind chill in the low 40’s.  But the full sun gave us company with shadow racers… sometimes they were in the lead… sometimes we were.  My cycling buddy Brian on the right and me on the left.  Sure, there was a cold blast against your chest and your [...]

Off Season Training

November… really?  What a day… mid 70’s and sunny.  I was thinking how much we should enoy this weather especially on a bike.
Then I thought back to last year and a very cold snow day on Sugar Mountain. These pictures of me with my fellow cycling pal, Jeff, were a great reminder of how good [...]

Happy Machine :)

This is not just a bike hanging from the garage ceiling.  This is a Happy Machine!  It’s smiling because it was let out of the garage after a week and a half.  Just about 32 miles today made each component feel useful once again.

Until tomorrow my friend… maybe I’ll take you out a bit longer.
